About Us

Kid's Night Out is an extension of Murray Camp Nantucket. Murray Camp of Nantucket Island is a private licensed day camp. The camp, established in 1989 by it's current directors, Mary Murray and Chuck Bruno provides youngsters ages 4 through 14 with the opportunity to experience social, academic and physical enrichment recognizing that children have varied styles of learning and unique developing personalities. We have designed our curriculum at Kids Night Out with this same ethos to ensure that all children benefit. We strive to support our attendees by providing friendship building skills and experiences in an effort to create wonderful nostalgic memories of their summers spent on the island. Kid's Night Out offers an alternative to traditional babysitting enabling children to make new friends and participate in group activities.

The Murray Family

Murray Camp and Kids Night Out were founded in 1989 by Educational Psychologist Mary T. Murray. Today, she and her husband, Chuck Bruno, co-direct the camp together. Their sons, Seamus and Liam Bruno grew up attending the camp and now assist as Senior lifeguards and staff supervisors. Both Seamus and Liam were former captains of their high school, Newton North's varsity basketball teams. Seamus attended Stonehill and Boston College while Liam attended Wheaton College where he was captain of the basketball team. Mary is a licensed educational psychologist who has been directing Murray Camp for over 3 decades. Mary has over 30 years of experience as an educational psychologist working with elementary through high school age youth children and their families. Mary worked as a psychologist at a community family clinic outside of Boston for over 20 years and currently works as an educational psychologist at a high school just outside of Boston. Mary directed academic camps for Harvard University prior to founding the Murray Camp in 1989. She has also served as a co-chair along with her husband Chuck, for events hosted on Nantucket Island benefiting Boston Children's Hospital's Autism Language Program.
